Today is ANZAC Day here in Australia - a day where we remember our troops from the wars Australia has fought. Traditionally it pay homage specifically to the veterans of WWI (people known as "Diggers" in the day), but it's developed over time.

I'm celebrating by baking ANZAC biscuits! They were sent to troops from home because they were the only things that didn't go off or lose their tastiness over time, LOL. You guessed it - they have Golden Syrup in them XD LOL.

I might rent out Gallipoli if I feel like a bit of a cry later tonight, HAHA. Oh Mel Gibson... WHERE DID IT ALL GO SO WRONG?!

HOPEFULLY we're going to draw something from each chapter :3 I read chapter one today and drew Vernon Dursley being all oblivious to the owls outside his window, LOL. Vernon is SOOOO funny in that first chapter XDDDD

Wow. I went a whole update without talking about Tom Felton's Twitter! ... damn. Oh well, as I brought it up - he said yesterday that America should have a cricket team, LOL XDDDD "it would help international relationships flourish!why are our sports so different?love the u.s" - to which I said: but then you get the whole, "OMG WHO WON THE ASHES?!" and it'll be Australia... so that'll do nothing for UK/US relations ;) x

Sorry I haven't been updating or replying to stuff - things are extremely hectic atm. Sigh. The Uni had my middle name down as my last name for enrolment, so I had to go in and get it changed today (which could take a couple of days) because I need to fill out my HECS stuff to defer my fees, and then I had to go to Service Tasmania to get a form that I had to fill out and take to the Police Station so they could do a police check on me so I could go into schools and teach and now I'm not sure that I'm going to get everything in on time before my prac and a;lsdkj;alkjdfa;kdsjf;laskdjf. I have maths in an hour... which I'm still not properly enrolled for either. SIGH. LOL XD

HOWEVER.

Both the upper and lower house of parliament were suspended today and replaced with statements of sympathy and thoughts of Victorian victims of the fires. Julia Gillard (deputy leader) was on the verge of tears as she delivered hers today. Malcolm Turnbull (leader of the Opposition) said that the response of the government will be "Whatever it takes". Kevin07 was in Victoria assuring residents that the government will do all it can to assist them.

There're stories of people going to assist others in saving their homes, only to have theirs destroyed. The death toll is up to 130 with 200 expected by the end of the week.

The Red Cross put out an appeal yesterday for all donations of money above $5 and as of 9:30pm tonight, $10.4 million had been raised. They're also inundated with donations of food, clothing and daily needs goods. There will be ongoing appeals throughout the One Day Match against New Zealand, and the Australian cricket team is donating their match payments to the appeal.

It really just goes to show you how amazing Australian people can be.

84 Dead from Victorian Bushfires. 700 homes destroyed. More than 70,000 hectares burnt in Gippsland alone. The Victorian Premier broke down while giving a statement.

It's just... horrific.

Please hope for leelastarsky's friend, whom she hasn't been able to get in contact with after her town was ripped through leaving 22 dead.

The only good news is that they're expecting a cool front to come in around midnight tonight - it hit Perth around 8pm EST, so it should be on its way.

Jo and I went and saw Slumdog Millionaire tonight, which was very enjoyable :D I knew four of the answers to the questions though, LOLOL XDDDDD One I knew through Venture Bros., and another through Supernatural ^^; One was literature and the last one I knew from my love of Cricket :D

Anyway, great music, and a good film, but The Curious Case of Benjamin Button was better. I find Danny Boyle to be an overrated director if I'm perfectly honest. The only film I've LOVED of his was Trainspotting. Even my Ewan love couldn't save Shallow Grave from being strange and not very entertaining, LOL. Admittedly I haven't seen either of the 28 Days/Weeks films, so eh.

Did anyone else do a double take when they saw Christian Coulson was a Producer? LOLOL. Not the same guy unfortunately, but LOL @ me anyway XDDD

I went around to Tom, Erika and Brodie's yesterday for a BBQ/Art jam, and took a flying leap in drawing with coloured markers :3 So here's my little go at Teddy with them (it's not very good but eh, it was my first time XD)

So, I lied - you're getting it now while it's still in my mind XDDDD

First of all, I love this movie with the fire of a thousand suns. Let's just get that out of the way. LOL. I'm ranking this as my 3rd favourite movie OF ALL TIME and that's before I see it again (which I will).

Personally, I was expecting to go into this movie and for it to have the same kind of feel as Moulin Rouge, that is, EPIC LOVE, and was pleasantly surprised to find that this was not the case.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Moulin Rouge so hard it hurts LOL, but it feels like a fantasy movie on occasion - the stunning sets, the colour, the music, the fast pace - you're MEANT to get caught up in this fantasy world of the Moulin Rouge.

Australia... was just... REAL. It FELT real. It LOOKED real. I've grown up with images of my country, and I have never seen the unforgiving land represented as beautifully as it was in this movie. They even got that look when the sun is setting, and there's no wind, and everything the light touches turns pink from the sky. SIGH. ILU AUSTRALIA <3

So last night I had a dream that buttfacemakani and I went to a theme park in Australia that doesn't exist, and we met Barack and Michelle Obama, the former of whom had bleach blond hair 0_____o Ooookay... >.> LOL.

Also, sometimes I forget to wake up. You know that part when you're sleeping, and you can kinda control your dreams just before you wake up? Sometimes I let my mind just kinda run with it, and I'll KNOW that it must be time for me to get up, but I kinda forget that I need to. 0.o I'm so weird, LOL.

Also, I'm thinking of moving to Melbourne... that's... kinda scary. Racheal, Buffy and Kate are all moving back to my hometown, Mel, Joy, Haylee and my parents and aunt and cousin are already there... Josh is going home to the US... I mean, there's actually a part of my mind that is saying, "You should go back home and get a crappy job - at least you'll be around your friends", but another part of me is yelling, "WHY ARE YOU GIVING UP?! THIS IS A STEP BACKWARDS!"

Of course, this would mean moving which I would HATE. UGH. Srsly. And it'd mean probably living with someone else to afford the rent there... and being in Melbourne: a city that I don't particularly know or love. I suppose I could move to Sydney, where the rest of my family is... but it's even MORE expensive there...

I'm thinking that I'll give myself to the New Year. If I haven't found a job that I love in Hobart... I'll move.

YAY!! GOOD STUFF, IT ARE A HAPPENING!! :D The powers that be saw that life was sucky due to WB and threw some good things my way! YAY!! :D LOLOL. Yay powers :3

1. Look at my awesome icon. Isn't it awesome in its awesomeness? XDDDD L-R, germanslut_83, buttfacemakani and rotae at NASA in Houston. I finally bought my parents a scanner that actually, you know, TURNS ON, so I scanned stuff :3 Oh, and I own a shirt that says on the front; "NASA: Rocket Science" and on the back says, "IT'S NOT ROCKET SCIENCE. (oh wait, yes it is...)" XDDDDDD LOLOL. I R KEWL.

2. I CAME FIRST IN AN H_E FAN ART CONTEST!!!!!! [Kermit]YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!![/Kermit] LOLOL. I was going to clean it up a bit, but this was my entry:

3. TOM FELTON IS ALL OVAH THE FRIGGEN PLACE. LOLOL. I think he's finally decided that he actually IS going to act for a living for a while, haha, and he's putting those Hufflepuff skillz to work :D YES. I CLAIM HIM AS A PUFF. IT'S SO CANON. OH YES. XDDDDD There's that interview with the director of "The Disappeared" who basically gushes about him for three pages, LOLOL:

"As we had three hours to shoot, Tom did his lines continuously, no errors - it was fantastic. There’s a true professional for you!"

4. I FINALLY got around to having a pretty mood theme!! I got one from whoresque, so now I have a shiny new Avatar mood theme :3 IZ SO AWSUM.

5. I'm throwing a BBQ with my BFF on Sunday!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! LOLOL. We've got 8 people coming (6kittykat6 couldn't make it though, BOO D:), and it's kind of gourmetish for a barbecue XDDDD Let's hope the weather holds out!! D: LOL. jhuneycutt and racheal_67 are both coming up from Hobart for it!! YAY!!! And Josh is bringing my mail!! YAY!! EXCITED!! :D XDDD

6. I'm very happy with my initial draft for the hp_art_project!! :D It looks a little something like this so far:

Neville took a ridiculous amount of time to get right. I think it was the idea of him being blond that threw me XDDDD But I'm generally happy with it! Draco's bitching about having to go into the forest, or something >.> LOLOL XDDDD And Hermione totally has my teeth ^^; Srsly. I looked in a mirror and everything XDDDD Hermione looks angry/confused, Harry looks HIGHLY unimpressed, Draco looks like a pissed off Pope, and Neville looks like a nervous Fat Friar Monk. So, all in all, quite happy :D XDDDDD

7. I got shortlisted over at the Fanging It competition for the ABC!! :D We had to do a 90-120 second film about going on a trip somewhere by yourself, so I went up to Cradle Mountain for a day. The final 5 got to go to Melbourne and get narrowed down to 2 who would go on a trip in a van for two weeks and then host the show about it. I didn't get through to the final 5, but I did get an e-mail saying that I HAD been shortlisted, so that was nice! :D

8. I submitted a graph to GraphJam and people seem to like it! :D It doesn't have enough votes to get on the front page, but people think it's cool, so that's good :D Here you go:

9. I have converted my BFF and 6kittykat6 into Avatards within the space of a week! YAY!! Cept Mel got me into Dexter too, so I suppose that's 1-1 then? XDDDDD

10. I bought THIS BOOK with the Gift Vouchers I got for Angus and Robertson for my birthday. HOW HAVE I LIVED WITHOUT IT?!?!?!?!!?! I LUFFS THE PRECIOUS!!

YAY!! I'M BACK HOME!! WOOOOOO!! :D LOL. Not that the USA was totally HORRIBLE or anything, but I missed the 9 degrees Celsius, beautiful tasting tap water, and pizzas that weren't three times the size of my head and claiming to be "medium". LOL XDDDDD

The flight home was long, and uneventful, which I suppose is how you want your plane flights these days. LOL. I spent 35 hours in airports/aeroplanes, so it was nice to come home, be greeted by my parents and have an ICED COFFEE ZOMGGGGGGGGGG. FARMER'S UNION. SO GOOOOOD :D

I'll make a proper update(/s?) about my trip later in the week :D

So, I'm currently at LAX (Los Angeles International Airport - where they get the X from is a mystery to me) on the worst keyboard ever invented and being charged something shocking.

Anyway. 18(?) hours and I'll be in Australia!! YAY!!

Hmm. So. Right. It's theoretically 32 1/2 hours until I leave Sydney shores and fly to the USA! And surprisingly... it hasn't really set in 0.o LOL. You think it would have by now, right? XDDDD I dunno... I guess it just feels like I'm in Sydney for a couple of days, which is nothing I haven't done at least 50 times.

This will actually be my last sleep in a BED before I go though. I'm not sleeping Saturday night, because I have to be out at the airport at about 6:45am anyway, and I want to wake up just as I'm arriving in the USA, so I'm putting off sleeping for as long as I can. I reckon I could make about 4-5 into the flight :D

OH. lunylucy and kiwifire! I had a thought! SHOCKING, ISN'T IT?! XDDD SO. I forgot that I'll totally be like at the very LEAST an HOUR in customs/security whatever for passports, and they have to take my mug shot and fingerprints and take away all my rights, LOL. So that should take about 2 hours, I think. Do you guys want me to ring you when I'm almost done or something?

ANYWAY. Sydney has been AWESOME :D Today my aunt, cousin, mum, dad, grandmother (uncle who joined us later) and I went into the CBD and spent over an HOUR in the new Apple Store :D OH YES. I has mah geek on :D THEN. We went to the Lindt chocolate cafe and had lunch, and for dessert I had a waffle with white chocolate and vanilla ice cream and melted milk chocolate XDDD WINNNNNNN. AND THEN. We went BACK to the Apple Store and my dad bought himself a BRAND NEW MACBOOK!!!!! OMFG. It's so awesome. And has Leopard. And is just made of WIN. AND. I bought a new battery for my wonderful old Powerbook, which I'm currently running down as per recommendation (so far it's been going for over 3 hours!!!!!!!! My last battery was lucky to get half an hour by itself, LOLOL XD)

So I has had a good day :D

YESTERDAY was interesting too! I went to this place to have my legs waxed, and I ended up having a facial too :D BUT. The interesting part was when they asked what skin treatment I was using, and I said, "Proactiv", and the woman kinda made that hissing noise? You know, when people are like, "Ooooh, OUCH"? LOLOL XDDD ANYWAY. Turns out, that Proactiv really isn't very good, because it DRIES OUT YOUR SKIN and doesn't actually clear away stuff, but just keeps it under the surface!! Like Jaws or something!! XDDDD SO. We ended up buying this new stuff, and OMFG. It cleared up my skin in a freaking DAY. NO JOKE. My skin is SOOOO smooth now! I have the occasional blemish, but it's simply AMAZING for just ONE DAY. LOL XDDDD It did for me in a day what Proactiv didn't manage to do for the nine months I was using it O____o

The A Week in the Life Of will have to wait/be postponed, because I'm just too darn busy. You guys should see me when I'm doing dull things or something XDDDD

Tomorrow is a big day, because I have to get all the stuff I haven't got yet, LOL, AND, we're having a big family barbecue :D Should be ace :D
