OKAY. I HAS INTERNET AT HOME, YAY!!!!!!!!!!! :D Kudos to BigPond having it up when they said it would be (minus kudos for it NOT BEING DONE IMMEDIATELY, LOL).

I downloaded the new HBP trailer in HQ and holy crap, you guys. No, seriously, holy crap. HOLY CRAP. LOL. Could this film be, actually epic, despite all the fucking changes they've made??!

DARE I HOPE?!

And it also illustrated one of the reasons I just adore Tom Felton so much as Draco (and as an actor) - HE'S NOT AFRAID TO GET UGLY. LOL.

Now, I know, that sounds strange (especially come from me y/y? LOL), but what I mean is, when he's displaying emotion - he's not afraid to screw up his face, and let spit fly, AND ACTUALLY ACT. LOLOLOLOL. EMOTION IS AN UGLY THING, PEOPLE. I hate it when actors cry and they look all pretty and "I'm going to have a cry now". NO. It has to be "I'MCRYINGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLAMAFACE" XDDDDDD

SEE THE AWESOME IN HD:

So yes XD And yeah... I kinda cried a little watching this trailer ^^; Because... fuck... IT'S JUST SO EPIC. I WAS OVERWHELMED BY THE EPICNESS OF THE AWESOME.

GOING THROUGH THE TRAILER THOUGHTS (WITH SCREENCAPS):

From jkrowling.com:

Section: F.A.Q.
What houses were Tonks and Myrtle in?

Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw respectively.

HELLZ YES. I FUCKING KNEW MUTHA FUCKA!!!! TONKS IS OFFICIALLY A PUFF!!!!!!! *is ded from squee* AHHHHHHHHHHHH *runs screaming down the street*

What is Draco Malfoy’s Patronus?
As of the end of Half-Blood Prince, he has no idea how to produce one, so nobody knows. You must remember that the ability to produce a Patronus demonstrates an advanced level of magic not routinely taught to young Hogwarts students (hence the surprise of the prospective members of Dumbledore’s Army when they find out that Harry can make a Patronus).

What are the properties of Draco’s wand? Can we assume that its wood is hawthorn, as per the chart on your site?
Interestingly (to me) I decided that Draco had a hawthorn wand independently of the chart. So yes, it is hawthorn, and by a bizarre coincidence I assigned him that wood, as I assigned Harry holly, without realising it was the ‘right’ one. Spooky... but for various reasons hawthorn seems to suit Draco as holly suits Harry.

I am so excited I really can't type properly. XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

[EDIT: Just a couple of things I found on Hawthorn (also my wand, going by my birthday, YAY!)

Hawthorn, or May, was a symbol of psychic protection (Occlumency) due to its sharp thorns (LOL, uh huh). Faery spirits were thought to live in Hawthorn hedges, which were planted as protective shields around fields, houses and churchyards. Hawthorn people are mercurial, innovative, creative and confident (Draco, yes? :D). Easily bored (haha, totally), they crave mental stimulation and challenge. They are eloquent and gifted performers, exuding natural charm (wordy mcword pants :D).

The Druic Animal - The Owl symbolizes wisdom and patience - Hawthorns must develop patience or hasty action can sabotage their best efforts. (OMG LOL. YES. Draco through books 1-5 and then he develops patience in HBP)

Source 2 [AMBER, YOU READING?! LOL XDDDD :D]: Hawthorn is traditionally used to make psychic shields, particularly for the innocent and vulnerable. It can be given to help protect a child from any harsh energies in the environment, and particularly at puberty when a child is particularly sensitive and vulnerable, and in need of psychic protection. This aspect is also reflected in its use as a hedging plant, not only for its thick impenetrable growth, but also as a psychic shield.

HAHAHA. LOL. AWESOME. XDDDDD

Hawthorn protects against lightning, and in the house in which it resides, no evil ghosts may enter. It is also powerful for protecting against damage to the house from storms. - anyone else see the whole "lightning struck tower" thing here? LOL.

And finally ZOMG FUNNEH AS ALL HELL:
POWERS: Fertility, Chastity, Fishing Magic Happiness
Fishermen should carry some hawthorn and call on the Gods Manannan and Lír if fishing at sea, or Nechtan if fishing inland. - BWAHAHAHA GO TOM XDDDD]

[EDIT 2: This might also give even more relevance as to why Draco is so objectional to Hufflepuff!! :O He sees what his parents say about his cousin!! IT MAKES A LOT OF SENSE!!

"Well, no one really knows until they get there, do they, but I know I'll be in Slytherin, all our family have been -- imagine being in Hufflepuff, I think I'd leave, wouldn't you?"

Ohhhohhohohoho, Draco. Not quite ALL your family... XDDDD]

ZOMG YAY THIS MAKES UP FOR CRAPTASTIC YATES AND HIS STUPID "FUN" MOVIE XDDDDDDD

AHILWUrhlawikurfhdbzlik uehw lifduihKN!~!! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

AND LOOK I HAVE A PRETTY BACKGROUND AND I WORKED IT OUT ALL MYSELF. *is so freaking proud*

Peace,
Rotae

From an interview by the L.A. Times:

The next one's full of sexual politics, and the kids are getting better as actors, and I want to push them even more. [Order of the Phoenix is] quite lyrical and intense. [Half-Blood Prince] is more fun." - David Yates. [emphasis mine]

Bellatrix, Draco, Snape and some theories...

  • Jan. 27th, 2007 at 11:51 PM
rotae: Ritchie Neville of the band FIVE headbanging (crazy)
Just a quick update before I go to bed... I shall reply to all of your lovely comments tomorrow when I am not dead on my feet, LOL.

THOUGHTS: BELLATRIX, DRACO and SNAPE...

'... That Bell girl must've had an enemy no one knows about - don't look at me like that! I know what you're doing, I'm not stupid, but it won't work - I can stop you!'
There was a pause and then Snape said quietly. 'Ah... Aunt Bellatrix has been teaching you Occlumency, I see. What thoughts are you trying to conceal from your master, Draco?"
'I'm not trying to conceal anything from him, I just don't want you butting in!'

I have always found this exchange to be... interesting.

"I'm not stupid, but it won't work" <-- uhm... weird phrasing there, Draco. "I'm not stupid - BUT it won't work?" Like, triple negative, LOL. You have to be intelligent for you mind to be Legilimensed? Uhm... no. I dunno... maybe Draco was extremely flustered, or JK slipped (it has been known to happen, LOL). Or maybe it's my addled brain... whatever, LOL. Any thoughts on that?

How does Snape know it's Bellatrix? Either Bella (and no one else Draco has had contact with), is a very good Occlumens (and is known for it)... or Snape actually got something through Draco's defences... OR, it's the obvious, and Snape knew that Bellatrix was going to help Draco and just assumed. LOL. Though he does seem quite adamant about it for someone who just assumed...

"What thoughts are you trying to conceal from your master, Draco?" - YOUR master? OUR master, surely Severus... (see: Snape is OMG TOTALLY "GOOD", LOL) And why does Snape immediately jump on the Voldemort bandwagon? Surely the first thing you would think of would be in case Dumbledore tried to read his mind, or the Ministry... Draco fobs it off as keeping his thoughts from SNAPE (which is understandable, seeing as it is BELLATRIX helping him, LOL)... but perhaps Snape did see into Draco's mind (that would explain how he knew it was Bellatrix teaching him) and saw that he WAS trying to keep something from Voldemort... in which case... what would that be? That he was failing? Or something else (here's hoping, LOL).

And finally... why would Bella want to know Occlumency? I suppose it'd be handy if she were captured by The Order (because she knows Death Eater secrets)... but it's not as if she's not willing to die for the cause... surely she'd just kill herself for Voldiepants. And she was extremely proud to stand up and show off her alligence to him during the First War... it's not as though she tried to keep anything from the Ministry...

Well... who knows... maybe Bellatrix is actually Regulus. LMFAO. XDDDD

Like I said... it's an interesting conversation.

THOUGHTS?

Rotae

OMFG... how cool is this:

www.the-leaky-cauldron.org
Jo Gives Additional Black Family History for Book Aid Auction
Previously we told you that author J.K. Rowling would be donating an item to auction in order to help Book Aid International, a group that helps support literacy in the world's poorest countries. This item was a handwritten paper from JKR. Today, the Daily Telegraph newspaper has a preview of this item. Reader Tony let us know that it is the Black Family Tree, portions of which were in the paper today. Readers will remember of course, we first learned of the tree as it was on the tapestry at Grimmauld Place in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. He writes:

"There are several familiar names visible, including Callidora who married a Harfang Longbottom. Her sister Charis who married Caspar Crouch. Intriguingly there is a Dorea (1920-1977) who married Charles Potter and had one child, a son. The time frame seems to be consistent with them being James' parents. "

He also says there is another listing of a name that is very intriguing to Potter fans "Arcturus Black (1884-1959). " The article goes on to mention these items will be on display Monday, February 20th at 24 Maddox Street London W1. Tickets to this event are £10, with proceeds going to charity. This paper from Jo , along with others, will then be auctioned off the next day. Thanks very much to Bald Tony and Michele for the heads up! Anyone with scans please send them in!

Also, think about this: Callidora Longbottom, and her sister Charis Crouch... OMFG... Crouch Jnr. crucioed his reletives to a psychiatric state! Wow, what a family! And we know James' parent's names! Dorea and Charles Potter. James Charles Potter! Sooooo cool!

Callidora means "Gift of beauty" and Charis [pron. KAR-is or KAY-ris] means "grace or kindness"
Caspar means "treasurer"
Arcturus is the fourth brightest star in the sky: only Sirius, Canopus and Alpha Centauri outshine it. "The Bear Guard" Again with the stars... lol. Well, it can't be Sirius' dad, because he died before Sirius was born (not to mention Regulus), so I wonder why it's "very intriguing"...
AND... I just have to gloat now... I HAD JAMES' DAD CALLED CHARLES!!! Either that or Harold, I was tossing up between Harry having his namesake and going royal family... lol. W0ot! lol.
Dorea is French and means "of the sea"

SOOOO pyched! PLUS... I got my fan fiction back!! YAY!!!!!!!!!! :)

EDIT: So, I just had a thought. Traditionally, in pure-blood families, the eldest son takes the first name of their father as their middle name (daughter with mother), Harry JAMES Potter, Genevra MOLLY Weasley (to which J.K. said "Molly, of course", as though this was obvious, and we should have known that). Ron's middle name is "Bilius", and he says he has an uncle by that name (OotP I think, about Thestrals? Correct me if I'm wrong).

BUT.

What if Sirius and Regulus' father didn't HAVE any brothers to give Regulus a middle name with? WHAT IF... Arcturus is their Grandfather, and his first name is now bestowed upon Regulus... whose name would now read: Regulus Arcturus Black. R.A.B!!!

Wow... I'm impressed I got that far! lol.

Rotae

There is a competition on MuggleNet, where you have to write the opening chapter of Book 7.
Seems simple enough... but it has to be under 1000 words.

Here's my entry. It might lead to a long fan fiction of Book 7, depending on how much feedback I receive.

Disclaimer: This story is based on characters and situations created and owned by JK Rowling, various publishers including but not limited to Bloomsbury Books, Scholastic Books and Raincoast Books, and Warner Bros., Inc. Okay... so I went and saw GoF for the 8th time... and I'm starting to notice weird things... in the "Get a move on, or all of the good ones will have gone" scene, where Snape is the coolest guy EVA, Draco is sitting next to George Weasley 0.o at the Gryffindor table 0.o ... and then, if they were studying, Gred and Feorge and Angelina aren't in H,R,Hr,D year group, so, like... WTF?!
AND... when Harry does his 'Ascendio' thing out of the water in the 2nd Task, Moody is to the left of screen... but it's not Brenden Gleeson!! It think it's his stand-in, and then, a moment later, it is him!?! WTF?!
And when Beauxbatons come in, and Seamus says "Blimey, that's one big woman", he's next to Ron, and then a moment later, he's on the other side of the table.
The TriWizard Cup moves around in the graveyard, and the "Moody" that Moody writes on the black board changes... anyway.

I also went and saw the Chronicles of Narnia, The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. And I have two things to say:
1. Josh, did we watch the same movie?!
2. Peter, and his MANLY unicorn LMFAO!! Tee Hee!!
I was completely underwhelmed by the graphics, which on occasion looked as though they were still from 2003... the wolves weren't scary, Aslan looked dodgy when he talked, and I've found I have a HUGE problem with Narnia in general.
The girls just sat and CRIED for half the fucking battle over a lion they'd known for a day... Susan gets to fire ONE arrow into the little dwarf dude, and the only strong female character is the 'sinner', the "Queen of Narnia". The religious undertones I found to be self-righteous and male dominant to the point of my being highly offended.
There were only three saving features of this film.
1. Tilda Swinton and her costuming. She was fantastic, and I loved the way her clothing changed as she became less comfortable.
2. The boy playing Edmund. I really, really, liked Edmund. Amazing performance.
3. The Phoenix's. They, were fucking AWESOME. That, was better than anything in Lord of the Rings.

Anyway... onto Christmas.

We had Christmas on the 27th... and the biggest present that I received was... A LIGHTSABER!!! That's right, people, a metal lightsaber, with a blue blade, with SOUND EFFECTS!!!!!!! You don't have to do the ZCHOOMM... it does it for you! Including the on/off sounds!?! *is sooooo happy*
ALSO, I got HBP on audio CD, which is SOOOOO cool. And an awesome green ring (malfoy, heh). Rebecca gave me this book called "When Cats Assinate", which you will LOVE, Kate!! And Kay and Ken also got me a CAREgifts gift, which means that a gift has been given in my name to help some of the poorest people in the world... it was so lovely.

And I bought my Mum, the "House of Elliott" DVD's, which she was really excited about. I bought Emilie this really nice bracelet, and I got Rebecca a Nirvana t-shirt, which she seems to be happy with... lol. You should see her latest blog on deviantART, it's very funny.

ANYWAY... better go. Talk soon ;)

From Aesop's Fables.

The Birds, the Beasts and the Bat

The birds and the beasts were at war. Their battles were fierce and frequent. Sometimes the birds won, swooping down out of the sun and attacking the animals. Sometimes the beasts won, creeping up on the birds as they searched for good on the ground, and leaping on them.
But there was one creature who was always on the winning side. He never lost, because he kept on changing sides. He would fight for the birds until they looked like losing, and then change sides. For a time he would fight for the animals, and then if the birds gained the upper hand, he would change back and join them.
This creature was the bat. He thought he was a very clever fellow, always being on the winning side.
In the end the war ended. The birds and the beasts agreed to live in peace for ever.
"Now I shall get my reward," the bat told himself. "Everyone will think I'm a fine fellow. After all, I was never on the losing side. I helped both sides. In fact, the birds and the beasts may make me their king!"
It did not work out like that at all. Neither the birds nor the beasts would have anything to do with him!
"You are a traitor!" they told the amazed bat. "You are loyal to no one. You only serve yourself. You let down both sides in the war. We want nothing more to do with you."
From that do to this the bat was an outcast, ignored by both the birds and the beasts.

Moral: People are expected to be loyal and to stick by their friends.

I was amazed at how much this was like Snape in Harry Potter. Even the bat-imagery. This is why I don't think that Snape only working for himself will work in the series. This is also the reason I believe that Snape is true to Dumbledore. If Snape were evil, then all of J.K's comments about not judging a book by its cover (pardon the pun) will have been in vain, and if Snape doesn't actually CHOOSE a side (because its our choices that matter), he won't be considered 'good'.

Anyway... ya.

Peace,
Rotae
