Political Stuff, Dr Who and Art and Fic Rec!

Something random I noticed yesterday; you know how when you get your left and right mixed up, and you say "the OTHER left"... I don't think I've EVER heard anyone say "the other RIGHT". 0.o

I am so fangirling Kevin Rudd (leader of the Opposition) atm. Srsly. Not only did he speak FLUENT MANDARIN to the Chinese President Hu Jintao (and was complimented by him on his PERFECT Mandarin and invited (and possibly not our Prime Minister) to the OLYMPICS, AHAHAHA), he had a 10 minute meeting with George Dubbya that ended up lasting 45 minutes. In which he stood his ground and FIRMLY said that when if he is elected at the end of the year, Australian troops will be out of Iraq by June next year (however, we're in Afghanistan for the long haul as we SHOULD have been THERE in the first place, unlike Iraq).

*fangirls* I mean, I don't agree with him on a lot of things on a personal level, but his party policies (cept Forestry in Tasmania, but seeing as what happened last time, I don't blame him), and his strength is totally making me go weak at the knees.

ILU KEVIN07. <3

On that note this from stuff.co.nz:
Mr Bush, in Australia to attend the Apec (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) summit of world leaders, took to the stage at the Sydney Opera House this morning and thanked Prime Minister John Howard for his introduction and for being such a "kind host" for the Opec (Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries) summit.
"I mean Apec summit," he said.
"I've been invited to the Opec summit next year.
"The Apec summit."
The faux pas brought laughter from his audience inside the auditorium.
White House aides later said Bush was joking and would not, in fact, attend an Opec summit.
Mr Bush also stumbled over his pronunciation of Jemaah Islamiah, the regional terror network.
And in another miscue, he botched the host country's name, referring to Mr Howard's visit to Iraq in 2006 as a thank-you to "the Austrian troops there."

So apparently we've shut down Sydney for OPEC (which George Bush isn't even ATTENDING and is in BELGIUM), and we're now not Australia, but AUSTRIA. 0.o Wow. This is the most powerful man in the world. Srsly. That's FOUR mistakes in ONE speech. HOW was this man elected?!! I mean, I may not like John Howard, but dude... at least he's INTELLIGENT. >.> HAHA.

ALSO. You know that poll that I did the other day? The site it was on, "The Chaser's War on Everything", well the guys who make that TV show got past TWO APEC SECURITY CHECK POINTS... in a CANADIAN motorcade, with the "INsecurity Company" and "JOKE" written on their IDs, WITH ONE OF THEM DRESSED UP AS OSAMA BIN LADEN. 0.o LMFAOOOOOO XDDDDDDDDDDDDD I love Australia. So freaking much. Srsly. This is THE BEST comedy stunt EVER. You can read more here.
Chris Taylor of The Chaser told the Sydney Morning Herald there was "no particular reason" they had chosen Canadian flags. "We just thought they'd be a country who the cops wouldn't scrutinise too closely, and who feasibly would only have three cars in their motorcade - as opposed to the 20 or so gas-guzzlers that Bush has brought with him."

Morrow [another member of The Chaser] denied the stunt was irresponsible and a danger to public safety.
"I wouldn't think so. Hard to say ... lucky it was us and not al-Qaeda," he told ABC Television.

BWAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA. This is so great. There was also a peaceful protest again George Bush in Sydney today. Excellent. AH I'm so happy XDDDDD

I couldn't wait for the next episode of Dr Who, so I watched the rest of the series on TV-Links, and OMG. Buffy makes me proud to be a woman, but Dr Who makes me proud to be a HUMAN. HAHA. XDDDDD

Everyone go and check out Sullen-Skrewt... she is PHENOMINAL. I LOVE her Tonks and Bella... and her Mollywobbles is GREAT :D

Also, I'm totally addicted to [livejournal.com profile] inell's Teddy/Hermione story, "Worth the Risk", but she just did a Scorpius/Rose INTERLUDE, in which they're both in Ravenclaw, and talking about their mothers would get on so well. OMG. So my canon. XDDDDDD

I bought FIVE tops yesterday (one has an emo kid cartoon on it and says "Cheer up, Emo kid!" XDDDD and two are Old School Star Wars and one is one that I'm going to revamp for Remus and Tonks). And I also bought Pink's "I'm Not Dead" album. And Bend it Like Beckham. >.> XDDDD

And finally... Pavarotti... :(

Peace,
Rotae

Well, who doesn't fangirl Kevin Rudd? My friend Dom keeps saying he wouldn't kick Rudd out of bed.

Yay for the Chaser! I can't wait until they screen that episode. Did you hear the follow up stunt? Where they tried to get in using a cardboard box as a car?

[identity profile] rotae.livejournal.com 2007-09-08 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
HAHA. Totally!! I'm so drawing Kevin Rudd fan art and sending it to him XDDDDD

I KNOW. ZOMG. BEST. EPISODE. EVAH. XDDDDD

Rotae

Bush is president because half of the US is full of stupid. >_<;

[identity profile] rotae.livejournal.com 2007-09-08 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
The half that votes? LOL. That's a bit scary >.> We have compulsory voting in Australia. You HAVE to vote or you get fined. :D

Peace,
Rotae

[identity profile] masakochan.livejournal.com 2007-09-08 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
Well, all of those who voted. I think the results were like..49%(Kerry)/50%(Bush).

[identity profile] rotae.livejournal.com 2007-09-08 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
:( Well, he shouldn't have been there in the first place >.> what with the sham that was the 2000 election...

Peace,
Rotae

[identity profile] masakochan.livejournal.com 2007-09-08 05:27 am (UTC)(link)
Erk- I may want to rephrase that. The half who thought he'd make a great president were full of stupid. ^^;;

[identity profile] rotae.livejournal.com 2007-09-08 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
HAHA. LOL. I get it now ;) :D

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Kevin Rudd. I am such a fangirl. He's so cute and nerdy. Kevin, dearest, please don't fuck things up in your campaign between now and November because I want you for my PM.

Also, it's at times like that that I actually feel sorry for Dubbya. I don't like the guy, but he's so hugely out of his depth.

Also, the Chaser boys have earned my love for life. I mean, seriously.

[identity profile] rotae.livejournal.com 2007-09-08 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
I KNOW. ZOMG. I AM DRAWING KEVIN RUDD FANART TODAY AND SENDING IT TO HIM. I'm thinking... him, looking triumphant, with his foot on John Howards head like a soccer ball... y/n? XDDDDD I WANT HIM FOR PM. SO BAD.

Totally. I am with you there. He's just doing what he's told by other people. It's like the Pink song, right? "Dear Mr. President, were you a lonely boy? ARE you a lonley boy?" :( Poor Dubbya. Kevin totally pwned him btw, LOL

OMG I KNOW. I feel so bad for you guys, with all that disruption, but they've totally brought all of Australia together in their silliness. It's just SO Australian. Srsly. :D And that other group the mooned for Dubbya? HILARIOUS!! XDDDD

Peace,
Rotae

[identity profile] mybabyangel.livejournal.com 2007-09-08 06:00 am (UTC)(link)

[identity profile] rotae.livejournal.com 2007-09-08 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
OMG. TOTALLY. I want one of those shirts too. Maybe I'll make my own. *ponders* Do you know where you can get them?

YES. HE SHALL CONQUER AND LOOK ALL GEEKY AND AWESOME WHILE DOING IT.

How he got elected in 2000 was really quite simple. The 90's were so economically and politically easy that we were lulled into a false sense of security believing that little more than a trained monkey could do the job. So... American's (not me, mind) felt compelled to vote based on criteria like the appearance of a shared religious background etc. Personally, I felt that with the way things were going, I was safe in voting for Nader. Apparently I might as well have voted for Bush the way the election went. The second election, I'm sad to say, I did vote for Bush. Not because I liked him, but seriously, John Kerry? It was a clear cut case of the devil you know verses the devil you don't. Plus, with things being as cocked up as they were, I figured no one would let Bush get into too much more mischief whereas with Kerry, no one was too certain what his foreign policy would entail -his campaign seemed to be based soley on anti-Bush rhetoric - while certainly deserved, we had by that time figured out that it takes more than a mouthpiece to run a country. At any rate, I don't think we'll be making the same mistake again for a very long time. The next election looks quite promising.

[identity profile] rotae.livejournal.com 2007-09-08 12:59 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL. It was meant to be rhetorical but that was quite enlightning! LOL. Thanks :D

Oh, George. My senior year of high school he was elected for his second term. My civics and econ teacher began each class with a "Bushism": a little piece of paper that had a classic Bush fuck-up written plain as day. I loved that teacher ^_^

[identity profile] rotae.livejournal.com 2007-09-08 01:33 pm (UTC)(link)
LMFAO!! That sounds GREAT. XDDDDD

"But this is the question... is our children learning?"

SERIOUSLY. LMAO

Hmmm, maybe I should move to Australia. Or is it Austria? Damn, I can never remember. :p They are so similar and all.

[identity profile] rotae.livejournal.com 2007-09-08 04:07 pm (UTC)(link)
You now what? I forget too. They're in such similar parts of the world and all.

Cept we have skiing AS WELL AS nice beaches so we pwn more. Actually, that's a good idea. Look for the country with more pwnage.

Peace,
Rotae
